DIY Anthropologie Inspired Barrette

I was looking on Anthropologie's clearance the other day and found these cute little barrettes:
http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/shopsale-accessories/24186413.jsp
The catch, they cost $19.95 and they are on CLEARANCE. Really? Originally these were $28 and I can show you how to make them for less than $2 a piece.

Materials needed:
-plain barette (70mm)
-sequin elastic
-glue gun
-scissors

I got the sequin elastic at JoAnn's for $3.99 a yard but you can buy any ribbon there in increments of an inch. The barrettes can also be purchased at JoAnn's, Walmart, or online. I got a 12 pack of barrettes on sale for $1.79 but full price is $2.99 which is still inexpensive.

 Here's how:

1) Place small dot of glue at the back of clip. Immediately cover with the end of the elastic.

2) Run a line of glue along the face of the barrette and then immediately cover with the elastic.

3) Trim off excess elastic. Wrap clear tape around the excess to keep from fraying.

4) Repeat step one.

5) Show off your new hair accessory.

Now your probably thinking really? I could have paid 28 or even 19.95 for THAT? Aren't you glad you didn't? This DIY is fast, fun, cheap, and will keep you looking great. The longest part of the process was probably waiting for the glue gun to warm up!

Thanks for checking the post out and keep musing!
